BCCI President Roger Binny, VP Rajeev Shukla to attend Asia Cup 2023 opening ceremony, confirms PCB chief Zaka Ashraf

Pakistan will face Nepal in the Asia Cup 2023 opener in Multan.

While four games of the continental tournament will be played in Pakistan, the rest of the fixtures including all of India’s matches and the final will be held in Sri Lanka.

Ahead of the marquee event, Zaka Ashraf, chairman of the PCB Management Committee, has confirmed that the BCCI president Roger Binny and vice-president Rajeev Shukla will travel across the border to attend the opening ceremony of the Asia Cup.

"BCCI President and Vice President are coming to Pakistan for the opening ceremony of Asia Cup," Ashraf said, according to Pakistan media. "We welcome everyone who is coming to Pakistan [during Asia Cup]".

The highly-anticipated India versus Pakistan clash in the upcoming Asia Cup will be held in Pallekele on September 2.

Zaka Ashraf’s comments came on the occasion of Pakistan team’s jersey launch for the Asia Cup and the forthcoming ODI World Cup.

"Our team is currently united and performing well, and consequently is number one in the ODI team rankings," Ashraf said.

"Looking at the recent performances of the team, it is hoped that our team will be successful in the World Cup, however, at the moment all the attention is focused on the Asia Cup," he added.

The PCB boss also shared his views on the team's new ODI jersey.

"The Star Nation Jersey bears witness to the enduring bond between our cricketers and the passionate fans who stand by them through every match. This jersey encapsulates our rich cricketing heritage and the luminous future that awaits," he stated.
