The Asian Cricket Council (ACC) President Jay Shah on Wednesday (July 19) unveiled the schedule for the 2023 edition of Asia Cup, slated to be held in Pakistan and Sri Lanka.
The continental event is all set to get underway on August 30 with the clash between Pakistan and Nepal on August 30 in Multan.
India will open their campaign against arch-rivals Pakistan in Kandy on September 2 while the Rohit Sharma-led side’s second match in the group stage is scheduled against Nepal on at the same venue on September 4.
Sri Lanka will begin their campaign against Sri Lanka on August 31 in Kandy. Bangladesh is slotted to play Afghanistan on September 3 in Lahore, followed by Sri Lanka versus Afghanistan clash at the Gaddafi Stadium on September 5.
The six participating teams have been divided into two groups. While India, Pakistan and Nepal are slotted in Group A, Bangladesh, Afghanistan and Sri Lanka form Group B.
The top two teams each group will qualify for the Super 4 stage. The top two sides from the Super 4 stage will then face off in the final, due to be held in Colombo on September 17.
