Arshdeep Singh’s coach, Jaswant Rai, revealed that the young pacer could not sleep the night after India lost their Asia Cup 2022 Super Fours match against Pakistan at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.
The young pacer was heavily criticized for dropping Asif Ali at a crucial juncture of the match, as the Pakistan batter went on to snatch the match from Team India.
Arshdeep almost defended 7 runs in the final, but despite outstanding efforts, Pakistan defeated India by 5 wickets on September 4.
Following the loss, India suffered another defeat against Sri Lanka and were eliminated from the race for the finals of the 2022 Asia Cup which was won by the Islanders after beating Pakistan in the final on September 11 in Dubai.
Meanwhile, Arshdeep’s coach revealed that he had a chat with the pacer, who was disappointed with his performance against Pakistan and could not sleep that night after the loss.
Jaswant Rai told The Indian Express: “Like any player, Arshdeep was a bit tense but then we told him that he has done all the hard work and does not have to worry. After he dropped the catch against Pakistan and almost defended seven runs in the last over, I had a talk with him and he told me that he could not sleep that night.”
He was selected for the upcoming T20 World Cup 2022 and the coach said he will deliver his best in Australia.
Rai signed off by saying, “He shared that he does not care about trolls but his thoughts were only about not his attempted yorker turning into a full toss. The T20 World Cup is the biggest stage for any cricketer and Arshdeep's attitude of rectifying his mistakes will only help him and India.”
