Widely regarded as one of the greatest fast bowlers of all time, Wasim Akram never shies away from speaking his mind.
During the recently-concluded Asia Cup 2022, Akram openly expressed his displeasure when sports presenter Mayanti Langer asked him questions about the Indian team in the pre-match show of the Pakistan versus Afghanistan Asia Cup Super-4 clash.
Mayanti was once again at the receiving end of Wasim Akram's blunt reply after the Asia Cup final between Pakistan and Sri Lanka in Dubai on Sunday (September 11).
After Sri Lanka defeated Pakistan by 23 runs to win the Asia Cup 2022 title, Mayanti asked Wasim about Sri Lanka's come-from-behind journey in the marquee event but the pace bowling legend came up with an absurd answer.
"Wasim, I can understand the thoughts that are going through your head. A team that everyone had counted out of this Asia Cup, had been written off has just had a dream run to take the cup…," Mayanti said.
"Nothing is going through my head," Akram said while interrupting Mayanti, and added: "Sri Lanka are the worthy champions because of the way they played today, the way they played against Pakistan the other. The only problem I had with Pakistan, was the intent."

Earlier, Wasim Akram was left visibly irritated when Mayanti Langer enquired him about India's woes in the Asia Cup.
Wasim had passed on the question to fellow commentator Sanjay Manjreker, saying: "Rohit Sharma is probably sick watching himself on TV. Two other teams are playing. I discussed India yesterday all day long. Today is Pakistan vs Afghanistan. That's why I am saying, Sanjay, all yours."
