Dasun Shanaka | GettySri Lanka are all set to take on Pakistan in the final of the Asia Cup 2022 at Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Sunday (September 11).

On the eve of the big game, Sri Lanka skipper Dasun Shanaka said his side is very excited to play in the summit clash and as a team, this is one of his country's best Asia Cup campaigns.

"As a team, we are very excited to play the final, and Pakistan is a very good team, all the matches have been nail biters and we are looking forward to the final," Shanaka told reporters on Saturday (September 10).

"As a tournament, looking back, this has been one of the best Asia Cups we have had, and we are looking forward to the final," he added.

Sri Lanka have won the Asia Cup five times, having clinched the title in 1986, 1997, 2004, 2008 and 2014. They are the second-most successful team in tournament history after India (7 titles).

This time around, Sri Lanka began their Asia Cup 2022 campaign on a poor note, losing to Afghanistan by eight wickets in the tournament opener. However, they bounced back in their next group match, defeating Bangladesh by two wickets in a thriller to make it to the Super-4 stage.

In the Super-4 round, Sri Lanka were the most dominant team, winning all three matches to secure a spot in the final. They started off with a four-wicket win over Afghanistan, followed by a six-wicket win over India and a five-wicket win over Pakistan.
