Asia Cup 2022: WATCH – Hasan Ali plays catch-catch with Iftikhar Ahmed after avoiding collision vs Sri Lanka

Pakistan suffered a five-wicket defeat at the hands of Sri Lanka on Friday.

Hasan Ali and Iftikhar Ahmed | TwitterPakistan suffered a crushing five-wicket defeat at the hands of Sri Lanka in what was a dress rehearsal for the Asia Cup 2022 final at Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Friday (September 9).

Babar Azam and company failed to step up to the plate with the bat, posting a paltry 121/10 on the board in 19.1 overs, which Sri Lanka chased down with 18 deliveries to spare.

Amidst the poor display, there was one moment from the Pakistan side that caught everyone’s attention.

During the 17th over of Sri Lanka’s innings, Dasun Shanaka slogged Mohammad Hasnain but failed to get the desired connection as the shot went high towards long-on. Hasan Ali, who was stationed at mid-off, covered the ground by running hard and also kept his eyes on the ball but so did Iftikhar Ahmed and neither of them knew that both were attempting the catch simultaneously.

Here, Hasan Ali was lucky to have escaped the nasty collision as he eventually plucked the stunning catch. In such cases, the fielder usually gets annoyed but Hasan reacted hilariously. After completing the catch, he threw the ball to Iftikhar and the two played catch-catch for a few seconds before joining the teammates in celebration.

Here’s the video:

Having defeated India and Afghanistan, Pakistan had already secured their place in the Asia Cup 2022 final. The Men in Blue will once again face Sri Lanka in the summit clash in Dubai on Sunday (September 11).
