According to BCCI sources, India vice-captain KL Rahul is all set to marry Bollywood actress Athiya Shetty in January 2023.
Team India will be taking part in the T20 World Cup 2022 in Australia which will be followed by limited-overs series in New Zealand.
The wedding will reportedly take place in Maharashtra.
“KL informed me a few days back that he will marry Athiya next year. After that, a close family member from the girl’s side also told me the same. After the T20 World Cup, the team will go for New Zealand tour and after this, the wedding will take place in Maharashtra,” said a BCCI source to ANI.
Athiya and Rahul have been dating each other for a long while and the actress has travelled with the cricketer on a few occasions.
Currently, KL Rahul is part of the Indian team in the Asia Cup 2022 in UAE. He has been struggling with the bat, managing to score just 70 runs in 4 outings at an average of 17.5.
The Men in Blue lost a must-win encounter in the ongoing Asia Cup 2022 against Sri Lanka on Tuesday (September 6) in Dubai by six wickets. To advance to the Asia Cup final, they must now wait for other results to go their way.
For Rohit Sharma and his men to have a chance to feature in the finals, Sri Lanka or Pakistan need to win all their remaining games and the Indian team needs to defeat Afghanistan on Thursday (September 08).
If these outcomes occur, Net Run Rate will come into play to decide the tie-break.
