Pakistan pacer Shaheen Shah Afridi is missing out on the action in the ongoing edition of Asia Cup in UAE due to a knee injury that he sustained while playing a Test match against Sri Lanka in July.
Shaheen is currently undergoing a rehab in London in his bid to regain full fitness ahead of the T20 World Cup 2022, slated to be held in Australia from October 16 to November 13.
After Pakistan's five-wicket victory over arch-rivals India in the Super-4 clash of the Asia Cup 2022 on Sunday (September 4), Shaheen interacted with the pace duo of Naseem Shah and Haris Rauf.
In a video shared by PCB on Twitter, Naseem and Haris can be seen checking up on Shaheen and the left-arm pacer said: "Rehab is going well with weight training. I will be bowling in two weeks time, six pack (abs) aaya hai little bit."
In reply, Haris hilariously said: "Yes, you have plans to become an actor later, right?"
In the clip, Shaheen further said that he wishes to see yorkers being executed by Haris and Naseem to perfection. He also lauded Haris Rauf’s bowling against India in the Super-4 fixture.
"Asia cup nahi jaani chahiye,” (Asia cup shouldn't go out of our hands)," said Afridi in the video.
In retort, Rauf said: “Aap ki bathaye hue .. aap guru ho! (Just following your path, you are the guru)."
Whilst in London, Shaheen will remain under the supervision of the PCB Medical Advisory Panel, which also comprises London-based Dr Imtiaz Ahmed and Dr Zafar Iqbal.
Shaheen suffered a PCL injury in July whilst fielding during the first Test against Sri Lanka. He is expected to regain complete fitness before the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022, though his return to competitive cricket will be decided upon by the PCB Medical Advisory Panel.
