Veteran India pacer Mohammad Shami on Monday (September 5) slammed the trolls for abusing Arshdeep Singh after India’s Super-4 clash against Pakistan in the ongoing Asia Cup 2022.

The left-arm fast bowler dropped a simple catch to give Pakistan batter Asif Ali a reprieve in the 18th over of the second innings at Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Sunday (September 4).

In the end, Asif produced a stunning cameo (16 off 8 balls), helping the Men in Green to chase down India’s target of 182 with one ball to spare.

Afterwards, Arshdeep was subjected to online abuse as India lost the nail-biting match by five wickets.

"They only live to troll us, have no other job. When we perform well they don’t say you took a good catch but will troll us?" said Shami while speaking to Times Now.

"Agar dam hai toh real accounts se aaye na, fake account se toh koi bhi msg kar sakta hai (If you have the audacity, then comes from real accounts; anyone can message from fake accounts,)” he added.

Notably, Shami had experienced the same after India’s 10-wicket defeat to Pakistan in last year’s T20 World Cup in the UAE.

"I’ve faced this and it doesn’t affect me because my country stands up for me. I’ll only say to Arshdeep , don’t let this hamper you because your talent is immense," he stated.

Mohammad Shami also extended his support to Arshdeep Singh as he put out an Instagram story that reads: “Don’t worry @_arshdeep.singh__ we are with you. Focus on your upcoming games, don’t look and listening them.”

India will aim to return to winning ways when they face Sri Lanka in their next Super-4 clash on Tuesday (September 6).
