Pakistan would really want to take revenge for a 5-wicket defeat by India in their group match of the ongoing Asia Cup 2022 when the two arch-rivals meet again in the Super-4 clash on Sunday (September 4) at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium in Dubai.

However, ahead of the crucial Asia Cup Super-4 match against India, Pakistan suffered a major setback, as their star pacer Shahnawaz Dahani has been ruled out of the match due to an injury.

On Saturday, September 3, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) confirmed that Dahani can’t take part in the next match against India after suffering a suspected side strain while bowling in the final group match against Hong Kong in Sharjah on Friday (September 2).

In an official release, the PCB stated: “Shahnawaz Dahani will not be available for Sunday’s ACC T20 Asia Cup Super-4 match against India due to a suspected side strain. The injury happened while bowling in the match against Hong Kong in Sharjah on Friday.”

The official statement further read: “As is the case with any suspected side strain injury, the medical team will monitor him for the next 48-72 hours, following which they will make decisions, including carrying out a scan and further participation in the tournament.”

Notably, Pakistan are already without their pace spearhead Shaheen Afridi and Mohammad Wasim Jr., and during the previous India clash, Naseem Shah was also giving them an injury concern but thankfully for them it was just cramps.

With Dahani unavailable, one of Hassan Ali or Mohammad Hasnain is expected to replace him in the playing XI against India.
