Virat Kohli and Suryakumar Yadav are filling the number three and four spots, respectively, in India’s XI in the ongoing Asia Cup 2022, but the former cricketer and commentator Gautam Gambhir isn’t pleased with the idea and has a crucial suggestion for Team India.

Gambhir further opined that it is unfair for Suryakumar to be batting at no. 4 just because the Indian team management wants Kohli to regain his batting form, especially when someone has shown a much greater capability to accelerate the innings than the latter.

The former opener called for Suryakumar to replace Kohli at the number 3 spot in the remaining matches of the Asia Cup 2022, and he should bat at this position in the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup 2022 in Australia, and the former skipper has enough experience to bat at number four.

Gautam Gambhir said on Star Sports: “See, I have a reason behind it. The reason is that you don't fiddle with someone's form, just because you want someone else to get back in form. He was unbelievable in England when everyone struggled. He was brilliant in the West Indies as well. He's 30 as well. He is not like 21, 22.”

He continued, “He doesn't have a lot of time on his hands. Make him bat at No.3, make the most of his form, and Virat Kohli, he has got so much experience, he can still come and bat at No.4, depending on the situation as well. I personally feel that Surya should be batting at No.3 from here on till the World Cup and see how the results is going to be.”

In Wednesday's match against Hong Kong, Suryakumar provided a late fillip as his blistering 68* in 26 balls with 6 sixes and 6 fours helped India to 192/2 after KL rahul labored for 39 balls for his 36 and even Kohli struggled a bit for his 59* in 44 balls.
