Hardik Pandya was the toast of India’s win over arch-rivals Pakistan in their Asia Cup 2022 opening match on August 28, Sunday. Pandya’s all-rounder show helped the Men in Blue beat the Men in Green by 5 wickets in a thrilling encounter.
Hardik first took 3/25 in his 4 overs as Pakistan was restricted to 147 runs after being asked to bat first by Indian captain Rohit Sharma won the toss. Then, when India was chasing the target and was struggling at 89/4, Hardik added 52 runs with Ravindra Jadeja for the 5th wicket and remained unbeaten on 33* in 17 balls to take India home.
He hit Haris Rauf for three fours in the penultimate over to bring India closer and then hit Mohammad Nawaz for a six to win the match for the Indian team.
After India beat Pakistan by five wickets, Akram, Pathan, and Langer were in conversation about what transpired in the game. And were discussing the happenings of the match from Hardik’s brilliance to Virat Kohli’s comeback in his 100th T20I and pacer Naseem Shah’s impressive debut to Pakistan batting’s failure.
As Langer was thanking Irfan and Akram for their time, the two former cricketers suddenly looked to the left of the camera and began clapping. As viewers were confused as to what happened, Langer said: "The man of the hour Hardik Pandya passes us by. Congratulations to you, Hardik."
It was indicated that Hardik Pandya had just walked by and evoked such a reaction from them.
