Indian all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja was happy to deliver with the bat when his team needed it most after the Men in Blue won a thriller by five wickets against Pakistan on Sunday (August 8) in Dubai.

Jadeja was promoted to the batting lineup ahead of the likes of Dinesh Karthik and Hardik Pandya to tackle Pakistan spinners, Shadab Khan and Mohammad Nawaz. He also did a great job by taking the game to the final over, but eventually lost his wicket while playing a glory shot off Nawaz in the 19th over, but still, his contribution played a big role in India’s win.

The senior all-rounder also added 52 runs with Hardik Pandya, who finished the game with a six against Pakistan. Pandya was named player of the match in Dubai for his outstanding all-round performance, scoring 33* runs and taking three wickets in his four overs.

Jadeja said that his knock was important to him as he was promoted up the batting lineup, and he tried to attack the Pakistani spinner as much as possible.

Ravindra Jadeja said in a video uploaded on the BCCI’s official Twitter handle: “The knock was important for me since I was promoted up the batting order. I tried to take the attack to the spinners as much as possible, I looked to go for big shots.”

The all-rounder said his partnership with Hardik was crucial when India needed around 10 runs per over in the last six overs against Pakistan. He added, “Our partnership was very important. We talked about backing each other’s strengths and it paid off.”
