Hardik Pandya was the hero of India’s 5-wicket win over Pakistan in the second match of the Asia Cup 2022 which was played in Dubai on Sunday, August 28. Pandya was also awarded the Player of the Match for his all-around show.
Rohit Sharma had asked Pakistan to bat first after winning the toss and Bhuvneshwar Kumar led the bowling attack with 4/26, while Hardik Pandya delivered huge blows, picking 3/25 in his 4 overs.
In the case, Mohammad Nawaz and Naseem Shah hurt India as KL Rahul made a duck, Rohit Sharma made 12, and Virat Kohli, in his 100th T20I, got out for a well-made 35. It was then Ravindra Jadeja (35) and Hardik Pandya (33*) who added 52 runs for the 5th wicket and dug India out of trouble and took them past the winning line.
Pandya had brought India closer after hitting Haris Rauf for three boundaries in the 19th over and despite India losing Jadeja on the first ball of the last over, and Hardik playing a dot ball, the Baroda all-rounder hit Nawaz for a huge six to win the match for India by 5 wickets.
Even Afghani fans were watching this match with great interest and a video has gone viral of a fan kissing Hardik Pandya on the TV screen after he hit Nawaz for a six to win the match.
In the video, he can be seen watching the India-Pakistan match with his friends, and after Hardik sealed India’s win, he comes running down to kiss Hardik on his TV screen.
