Asia Cup 2022: Sri Lanka announce 20-member squad for upcoming Asia Cup

Sri Lanka will begin their Asia Cup campaign against Afghanistan on August 27.

The multi-nation tournament, in a T20I format, is due to be held in the United Arab Emirates from August 27 to September 11.

Dasun Shanaka will lead the Sri Lankan squad, which also features Dhanushaka Gunathilaka, Pathum Nissanka, Kusal Mendis, Charith Asalanka, Banuka Rajapaksha, Dhananjaya de Silva, Dinesh Chandimal among others.

Wanidu Hasaranga, Mahesh Theekshana, Jeffery Vandersay, Praveen Jayawickrema are the premier spinners in the side while the fast bowling options include Dushmantha Chameera, Binura Fernando, Chamika Karunaratne, Matheesha Pathirana.

The Asia Cup 2022 was originally scheduled to be played in Sri Lanka, but moved to the UAE due to political turmoil and the economic crisis in the island nation.

Sri Lanka will begin their campaign in the tournament opener against Afghanistan in Dubai on August 27.
