Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) president Sourav Ganguly backed Virat Kohli to regain his form in the upcoming Asia Cup 2022.

Kohli has been out of form for a while now. The runs have totally dried up for him and he is even struggling to get going. Things have turned this much worse for him that even a player of his calibre is getting criticized for blocking the way of youngsters.

Having scored his last international century in 2019, Virat is now even struggling to score half-centuries. In the white-ball games that he featured against England, he managed only 45 runs across two T20Is and two ODIs. His struggles were even visible in the rescheduled Test at Edgbaston as he registered only 20 and 11 in two innings.

Since the England tour, Kohli has been rested and he’s all set to return to the team for the Asia Cup. Many have backed the former Indian skipper to return to the form in the tournament and play a key role for his side.

Meanwhile, Ganguly feels that Kohli needs game time and he’s hopeful that the right-hander will make a comeback and return to form in the Asia Cup 2022.

“Let him practice, let him play matches. He is a big player and has scored plenty of runs. I am hopeful that he will make a comeback. He is just not being able to score a century and I believe he will find his form in the Asia Cup,” Sourav Ganguly was quoted as saying in an interview with India Today.

Ganguly also rubbished the speculations about his candidature for being the next president of the International Cricket Council (ICC).

“See, these are all speculations. These are not right. This doesn't happen so fast. These are all in BCCI's and Government's hands,” he said.

The Asia Cup 2022 is scheduled to start on August 27. India will begin their campaign against Pakistan on August 28.
