Virat Kohli | GettyFormer India cricketer Sanjay Manjrekar has said that Virat Kohli deserves rich praise as he had embraced the new outlook and aggressive approach of the Indian team while playing in the recent T20I and ODI series against England.

Kohli, despite struggling for runs, tried to play as per the new aggressive approach Rohit Sharma and his men have adopted going into the T20 World Cup 2022. He hit some eye-pleasing shots in his knocks. Kohli will be seen in action in the Asia Cup in UAE, after resting from the recent West Indies and upcoming Zimbabwe tours.

During an interaction on the Sports 18 show 'Sports Over the Top', Manjrekar was asked whether Indian fans should celebrate or be a little concerned that Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul, and Kohli are coming back together.

He said: "They should celebrate because class is back. Virat Kohli has had some first-hand experience of this new approach of India in T20 cricket in England. So he has embraced that, not with great success, but he has embraced that. You have got to give credit to Virat Kohli.

He didn't care about whether he was getting runs or whether he was getting out because he desperately needed runs in England and he is looking for international runs but he still sort of backed up the Indian team's new philosophy. He was trying to hit boundaries from ball number one."

Virat Kohli made 1 and 11 in the two T20Is he played against England and then made 16 and 17 in the two ODI matches.
