Pakistan broke the losing jinx against India in the World Cup events late last year, when they registered a monumental 10-wicket victory over the arch-rivals in the Super 12 stage of the ICC T20 World Cup 2021.

The Pakistan team went on to feature in the semi-finals against Australia while Virat Kohli-led India was knocked out in the group stage.

Babar Azam and his men will now take on the Indian team in their Asia Cup 2022 opening match at the Dubai International Stadium on August 28.

Ahead of the clash, former Pakistan cricketer Tauseef Ahmed feels that the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has struggled in terms of 'settling' the team, arguing that the same players who were dropped a few years back are making a comeback to the side.

"Ye rona dhona toh bohot puraana hai (this has been going on for long now). You didn't try to settle the team. The same players that were there a few years ago are coming back in some way or the other. When something this crucial coming up, you go back to those players about whom you once said that they should leave cricket. It means you didn't have a back-up plan,” Ahmed told Sports Paktv.

Additionally, he thinks the Pakistan side is only interested in playing India in the upcoming Asia Cup.

“Unless you're not settled, there's no point. There was Saud Shakeel, there were 2-3 other players, where are they now? We want our team to be good. We were thinking they will pick Shoaib Malik. Because you only remember these people at this time. But we don't really care about the Asia Cup, we only care about those 2-3 games against India. It's like.. 'if we win these, that's it'. That's not the way. You need planning,” he added.

Tauseef Ahmed has represented his nation in 34 Tests and 70 ODI and has 148 wickets to his name across them in a career that spanned between 1980 to 1993.
