Asia Cup 2022: Oman to host Asia Cup qualifiers from August 20, confirms ACC

The qualifier clash will feature four teams competing for the sixth spot in the main draw.

Oman is set to host the Asia Cup 2022 qualifiers | GettyThe 2022 edition of the Asia Cup is all set to take place in the United Arab of Emirates (UAE) from 27th August to 11th September.

All five Test teams including Sri Lanka, India, Pakistan, Afghanistan, and Bangladesh are set to feature in the competition, with one more team to join them after a qualifying tournament.

For the qualifier event, the Asian Cricket Council on Wednesday (August 10) announced the schedule, as per which, it will be played in Oman from 20th August to 24th August.

The qualifier clash will feature four teams – UAE, Singapore, Hong Kong and Kuwait – competing for the sixth spot in the main draw.

Notably, UAE and Kuwait qualified from the ACC Western Region T20I tournament held in UAE in February 2020 while Singapore and Hong Kong qualified from the ACC Eastern Region T20I tournament held in Thailand in March 2020.

Sri Lanka will take on Afghanistan in the opening game of the Asia Cup 2022, while the much-awaited clash between India and Pakistan is scheduled for August 28.
