KL Rahul has been out of action since IPL 2022. However, the right-hander was expected to return for the ongoing West Indies tour, but he was unfortunately tested positive for COVID-19 and then aggravated his hamstring injury to be ruled out of the upcoming ODI series against Zimbabwe.
Rahul hasn’t played for India since February this year, which means there is a big question mark on his inclusion for the upcoming Asia Cup 2022, starting on August 27, as well as the T20 World Cup 2022.
It would be interesting to see whether selectors pick him without a single match before the upcoming event, and now former Pakistan spinner Danish Kaneria has shared his views on the same. He is not in favor of picking Rahul in the main squad for the upcoming Asia Cup 2022.
Danish Kaneria said on his YouTube channel: “KL Rahul is a player who can play at any number. He is a fantastic fielder who can also do wicket-keeping. However, he has not played an international match since his injury. I've kept KL Rahul on stand-by because he has not played after the injury.”
He further added, “You cannot start with KL Rahul in such a big tournament after a long break. So give him some time till the T20 World Cup.”
Recently, Rahul had said that he is aiming to recover as quickly as possible and be available for selection as soon as possible, as he cannot wait to return to the side.
