ZIM v IND 2026: India's T20I squad for Zimbabwe tour announced; Sanju Samson fails to make cut

The three-match T20I series will begin on July 23 in Harare.

The BCCI Men's Selection Committee on Monday (July 6) announced India's squad for the upcoming three-match T20I series against Zimbabwe, starting July 23 in Harare.

Sanju Samson’s omission headlined the 15-member squad, featuring teenage sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi and Abhishek Sharma as openers. Ishan Kishan  retained his spot in the side as first-choice wicketkeeper-batter.

Prabhsimran Singh, the wicketkeeper-batter from Punjab, received his maiden India call-up alongside fast bowler Ashok Sharma.

Shreyas Iyer will lead a new-look squad, with Tilak Varma playing the role of deputy. Rinku Singh is back in Indian T20I side as finisher while Shivam Dube and Suryansh Shedge are the two designated seam-bowling all-rounders. 

Apart from Samson, Axar Patel, Washington Sundar, Ravi Bishnoi, Harshit Rana, Arshdeep Singh, and Prasidh Krishna – who were part of the ongoing Ireland and England tours are out of the team.

While Varun Chakaravarathy and Harsh Dubey are the two premier spinners in the side, Prince Yadav, Yash Thakur, and Mayank Yadav will spearhead the pace attack.
