Veteran New Zealand batter Kane Williamson was at the receiving end of a bizarre run-out on Day 2 of the first Test against Australia in Wellington.
Williamson arrived in the middle following the dismissal of Tom Latham in the fifth over. He tried to get off the mark with a tight single after a gentle push towards mid-off.
However, a mid-pitch collision with teammate Will Young saw Williamson stranded as Marnus Labuschagne hit the stumps directly at the non-striker's end.
After the collision, Williamson bumped into bowler Mitchell Starc, thereby losing every chance of making his ground. He eventually walked back to the pavilion for a two-ball duck.
“Calamity out there in the middle,” former Australia cricketer Brendon Julian said on-air, while ex-Kiwi batter Craig McMillan added: “I can’t believe what I’ve just seen here. That is just a disaster for New Zealand.”

Coming to the match, New Zealand’s first innings folded for a paltry 179, conceding a significant lead of 204 runs to Australia.
At one stage, the hosts were reeling at 29/5 but an 84-run stand for the sixth wicket between Glenn Phillips (71) and Tom Blundell (33) gave a touch of respectability to the Kiwi total. Nathan Lyon starred with the ball for Australia, returning with the figures of 4 for 43 in his 8.1 overs.
The visitors ended the second day at 13/2, extending their lead to 217 runs in the second innings.
