The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has decided to raise umpiring and technology issues with the International Cricket Council (ICC) after the controversial dismissal of Mohammed Rizwan in the second Test against Australia at the MCG.
The incident took place on Day 4 of the Boxing Day Test when the on-field umpire initially rejected the caught-behind appeal by Australian captain Pat Cummins, but the decision was overturned through the Decision Review System (DRS).
The Pakistan team expressed dissatisfaction with the decision reversal, as the 'Snickometer' displayed a noticeable spike when the ball passed just above Rizwan's wrist.
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) was also not happy with the decision, and now they are planning to take the issue to the ICC.
According to Pakistan board sources, Zaka Ashraf, the head of PCB, had a conversation with team director Mohammed Hafeez, who told him some issues related to umpiring and technology during the Boxing Day Test, which Pakistan lost by 79 runs against Australia.
It is being said that the PCB is ready to bring these matters to the attention of the global governing body.
Notably, all cricket rules and technology usage regulations are approved by the ICC Executive Board, following assessments by the MCC Cricket Committee and ICC Cricket Committee.
