Pakistan batter Abdullah Shafique has come under the scanner for his poor catching technique in the ongoing Test tour of Australia.
During the opening Test at Perth, Shafique dropped a simple catch to give a lifeline to Usman Khawaja. His fielding blunders continued in the Boxing Day Test at MCG as well.
In the first innings of the Melbourne Test, Shafique spilled an easy catch of David Warner while he gave reprieve to Mitch Marsh in Australia’s second essay.
When Abdullah Shafique dropped Marsh’s sitter at first slip, legendary Australia cricketer Mark Waugh couldn’t hold himself back from trolling the Pakistani opener.
Widely regarded as one of the greatest slip fielder of all time, Waugh said on-air: “I think you gotta get Shafique out of there. He hasn’t looked like catching one all series. It’s just like a crocodile jaw trying to catch a ball.”

Mitch Marsh’s dropped chance proved costly for Pakistan in the second Test. The all-rounder was on 20 when the catch was spilled and he went on to slam a half-century while also adding an unbeaten 100+ runs partnership with Steve Smith.
