Stuart Broad wrote his script on the final day of the Ashes series and his own cricket career as he picked up the last two Australian wickets to seal England's victory at The Oval, which meant the series ended drawn 2-2. As a result, Australia still haven't won a Test series in England since 2001, though they retained the Ashes urn once more.

On a emotionally roller-coaster day, England picked up three wickets quickly after Australia resumed the day at 135/0, before Steve Smith (54) and Travis Head (43) put on a fine stand to take Australia to 238/3 at lunch, needing 146 more runs for a 3-1 series win.

The afternoon session was washed away by rain and play resumed post tea with 47 overs of play left. Chris Woakes and Moeen Ali put on an inspired display to turn around the game as Australia lost five wickets for 56 runs to be 294/8.

Alex Carey and Todd Murphy added 35 runs for the ninth wicket and it was upto Stuart Broad to finish the match and his career on a happy note, which he did by dismissing both the batters to finish with 604 wickets in the format, fifth on the all-time list.
