The 'Barbie' fever has gripped the entire world with people all over flocking in to watch the movie, which has broken box office records.
On Wednesday (July 26), the England men’s cricket team joined the bandwagon. In a funny moment, England captain Ben Stokes’ pre-match press conference was hijacked by fast bowler Mark Wood on the eve of the fifth Ashes Test.
When Stokes was settling into the seat to address the media at The Oval in London, he heard the iconic 'Barbie Girl' song in the room.
Stokes was taken aback by the turn of events while the reporters couldn’t control their laughter. Eventually, the English skipper figured out that it was Wood who was playing the Barbie song.
“Woody?” said Ben Stokes, as the camera caught Mark Wood smiling.
Taking to Twitter, England Cricket posted a video of the same with the caption: “As Ben Stokes was sitting down for his pre-match press conference... Mark Wood decided to hijack the microphone and have a bit of fun. Barbie 1-0 Oppenheimer.”
Rain played spoilsport in the fourth Ashes Test at Old Trafford and robbed England of an opportunity to level the series 2-2.
The final day’s play at Old Trafford got abandoned due to incessant rain on July 23, leaving the Three Lions frustrated as they needed only five wickets to clinch the Test match after having dominated Australia with both bat and ball over the course of the first three days.
The Manchester draw also led to England conceding the urn. The fifth and final Ashes Test will be held at The Oval from July 27.
