One of the biggest rivalries to watch out for in the Ashes 2023 was between Australia opener David Warner and England seamer Stuart Broad when the first Test between the two sides got underway in Edgbaston on June 16.

In Ashes 2019, David Warner was a shell of himself, as he stumbled and stuttered to 95 runs in five Test matches, falling either to Stuart Broad or sometimes Jofra Archer as well. His record in England has been a below-par average of 26.04.

He is coming off a poor outing in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy Test series in India, scoring 26 runs in 2 Tests he played and then in the WTC 2023 final, made 43 and 1 against India at the Oval.

Much was expected from the veteran opener, who had announced that he would like to play his final Test in front of his home crowd in Sydney next yer, when he managed to evade Anderson and Broad on day one of the first Test after England boldly declared for 393/8.

On day two, Warner trieo his best to get and spent 26 balls making his 9 runs which included two boundaries.

But on the 27th ball, which he faced, coming from Stuart Broad proved to be his undoing.

Broad bowling from around the wicket to the southpw, bowled full-lengthth delivery to which Warner tried to throw his hands at it in hopes of hitting it through covers. But the ball took the inside edge of his bat and hit the leg stump, sending Broad into celebrations, while Warner cursed his luck.

This was the 15th time when Stuart Broad dismissed David Warner.
