Virat Kohli and Steve Smith | GettyThe fourth day of the intriguing ICC World Test Championship (WTC 2023) final between India and Australia at the Oval on June 10, 2023, saw a slight banter between Virat Kohli and Steve Smith during Australia’s second innings.

Australia having enjoyed a 173-run lead after Steve Smith and Travis Head centuries had helped them post 469 runs in 1st innings and then brilliant bowling helped them keep India to 296 despite Ajinkya Rahane’s 89 and Shardul Thakur’s 51.

In the second innings, Australia faced a bit of fiery bowling from Indians with Usman Khawaja (14), David Warner (1), Steve Smith (34), Travis Head (18), and Marnus Labuschagne (41) all falling despite getting starts.

During the day’s play, commentator Justin Langer revealed how Vira Kohli sledged Steve Smith when he was talking to the Australia batter in the morning,

He said: “I had a really nice moment this morning. We're out in the middle and I was talking to Steve Smith, and Virat Kohli just walked up to me and said, rubbish shot. And Steve Smith, if it was anyone else in the world, Kumar says rubbish. And Steve Smith had look at him and go, whatever.

But coming from Virat Kohli, goes umm yeah. Fair call. It was a rubbish shot. He knew it too as soon as he played it, didn't he?”
