Winners to bag $1.6 million as ICC announces prize money for WTC 2021-23 cycle

Ahead of the marquee fixture, the International Cricket Council (ICC) has announced the prize money and the winner is set to take home a hefty amount.

The winning team of the second edition of the World Test Championship is set to be awarded with the prize money of $1.6 million while the runners-up will get $800,000.

The tournament prize money remains the same as that was in the inaugural WTC cycle (2019-21), with a total purse of $3.8 million. All the teams competing in WTC 2021-23 will get a share according to their standings.

South Africa will earn $450,000 as they finished third after playing all their matches. England, who made a late surge and finished their campaign in fourth spot, will pocket $350,000.

Sri Lanka, who were among the top teams in the race for a spot in the decider during the epic finale, finished fifth to bag $200,000.

The remaining teams New Zealand (No.6), Pakistan (No.7), West Indies (No.8), and Bangladesh (No.9) will be rewarded with a sum of $100,000 each.
