India moves to second spot in ICC World Test Championship in latest update after South Africa’s big loss to Australia

India defeated Bangladesh by 188 runs | APThe Indian team defeated Bangladesh in the first of the two Tests in Chattogram on December 18, 2022, and thanks to this 188-run run win, have moved to the second spot in the latest update of the ICC World Test Championship (WTC) points table.

India was helped by South Africa in achieving the second spot, as after India thrashed Bangladesh by 188 runs in the first Test at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram, the Proteas suffered a crushing 6-wicket loss to Australia in the first Test at the Gabba in Brisbane inside two days.

Notably, India was fourth and South Africa was second in the table, prior to the start of both games.

Australia, following their win over the Proteas, remains top of the table with a win percentage of 76.92. The Pat Cummins-led side has played 13 games so far, winning nine of them. India is now behind them at the second spot with a win percentage of 55.77.

Meanwhile, South Africa dropped down to the third spot, following their defeat, and now has a win percentage of 54.55. Sri Lanka also lost one spot after India's win and is now currently fourth. They have a win percentage of 53.33.

On the other hand, England and Pakistan, who are currently squaring off in the third and final Test at the National Stadium in Karachi, are fifth and sixth with win percentages of 44.44 and 42.42, respectively. Pakistan is trying to avoid a whitewash as England leads the series 2-0, following their wins in Rawalpindi and Multan.
