All-rounder Ravindra Jadeja is unlikely to attain complete fitness in time for India's tour of Bangladesh in December for three ODIs and two Test matches.

Jadeja was named by the selectors in both the squads, subject to fitness, but as per reports he has still not recovered after undergoing a knee surgery in September.

Jadeja suffered a freak knee injury during the Asia Cup in UAE and underwent surgery which also ruled him out of the T20 World Cup in Australia.

"Jadeja has been to NCA for his check-up and rehab on a number of occasion. However as of now, it is unlikely that he will be fit for the Bangladesh series. In any case, Chetan Sharma-led former selection committee had kept him in the squad subject to fitness," a BCCI source privy to developments told PTI on conditions of anonymity.

As per the same report, Suryakumar Yadav could be drafted into the Test squad as replacement considering his stunning form in T20I cricket. He is currently touring New Zealand and is rested for the ODI series in Bangladesh.

India already has Akshar Patel, R Ashwin and Kuldeep Yadav in the chosen Test squad and it remains to be seen if the team management seeks a fourth specialist spinner, which could be Saurabh Kumar, who performed excellently for India A against New Zealand A and was part of the Indian squad in the home series against Sri Lanka.

While the national selection committee led by Chetan Sharma was sacked recently, the selectors are still doing their work as usual until the new selection committee is formed. They are also set to name India A's squad for the two unofficial Tests against Bangladesh A, which will precede the Test series between India and Bangladesh.
