ENG v NZ 2022: WATCH - England and New Zealand pay perfect tribute to Shane Warne at Lord’s

New Zealand were bowled out for 132 on day 1 of the first Test against England.

England and New Zealand are currently facing each other in the opening Test of the three-match Test series at Lord’s Cricket Ground in London. It is a very important test match in many ways, as Ben Stokes began his tenure as England’s Test captain with the first Test at Lord’s.

Apart from this, Brendon Mccullum is also making his debut as a coach in the international arena with the first Test between England and New Zealand.

Well, Lord’s made this Test match even more special by arranging a special tribute for the late Australian spin wizard Shane Warne on Thursday, June 2.

During the opening day of the first Test at Lord's, the England and New Zealand teams gave a perfect tribute to Shane Warne, as the play was paused and everyone inside the stadium stood in tribute, applauding the Australian cricket legend for 23 seconds.

After the 23rd over, players and everyone in attendance were asked for 23 seconds of continued applause in honor of the late number 23, Warne. Fans also took a moment to applaud for 23 seconds in memory of the late Aussie great.

There was also a big hoarding of Warne at Lord’s, as the MCC were paying their respect to one of the all-time greats of the game. Notably, he passed away on March 3 due to a heart attack in Thailand.

Coming back to the match, New Zealand were bowled out for 132 in their first innings, with James Anderson and Matthew Potts each snaring four wickets at Lord’s.
