Joe Root took two blows in lower abdomen on Day 4 of the second Ashes Test.

England captain Joe Root took a blow in his lower abdomen during Day 4 of the ongoing pink-ball Ashes Test match in Adelaide. Root looked in pain and he was down on the ground after Australia pacer Mitchell Starc's delivery hit him.

It was the second time in the day when Root got an abdomen injury. He had not come out to the field during the first session of Day 4 and turned up only after getting his scans done.

But the pain didn't end there as Root got struck once again during their second innings in Day-Night Test. The commentators were in splits after watching the English skipper's running between the wickets on the delivery after he took a blow.

The ex-Aussie captain Ricky Ponting could not stop laughing and he was almost in tears. "Absolute scenes in the commentary box, completely losing it watching Joe Root run ???? #Ashes," wrote 7 Cricket while posting the video.

Even the Australia batter David Warner in the slip cordon was spotted having a big smile on his face as Root completed the run.

England are on the verge of another defeat as they lost six wickets for 154 runs after the first session on Day 5. They are chasing a target of 468 which is out of reach after losing the key batters. They have already faced a defeat in the first Test match of the series.
