Australia opener David Warner is set to play the second Ashes Test in Adelaide confirmed Aussie skipper Pat Cummins on Wednesday (December 15). Fast bowler Jhye Richardson will replace Josh Hazlewood, who is suffering from a side strain.

Warner had suffered a rib injury during his knock of 94 in Australia's first innings of the Gabba Test match. He didn't take the field in England's second innings and Australia sent Alex Carey to open in their 20-run chase on Day 4.

"He'll be right, he had a bat yesterday and batted with a bit of discomfort, but knowing Davey he's not going to miss this one," Cummins said. "He'll be fine once the adrenaline kicks in.

"It's one thing batting in the nets and another when you walk out and have a packed crowd. He's played close to 90 Tests and I'm sure a lot of them have been played in discomfort," he added.

Cummins further said that they will be going with Richardson for the day-night Test match as a replacement of Hazlewood. They had to pick between Richardson and the uncapped Michael Neser for the second Test.

The skipper is confident of Richardson stepping up in absence of the Hazlewood, who has been outstanding in pink-ball Tests. 

"There's just the one change, Jhye will come in for Josh," said Cummins. "We just think Jhye is firing and really excited to see him out there.

"Josh is a big void to fill but we feel really confident that Jhye is going to step straight in," he added.
