Australia got off to a great start in the Ashes 2021-22 as they bowled out England on a low score of 147 runs in the first innings at Gabba. England's innings started with a wicket off the first delivery after speedster Mitchell Starc cleaned up the English opener Rory Burns.

The full delivery was angling into the batter and would have gone down the leg side if it had not swung out late. Burns, who was dismissed on a platinum duck, came on the off side and the ball ended up hitting the leg stump.

Starc's delivery was bowled at 142.1 kmph and it set the tone for Australia. "WHAT A WAY TO START THE #ASHES!", wrote the official account of Cricket Australia's digital content team.

For England, Jos Buttler was the top scorer with 39 runs off 58 deliveries. Captain Joe Root was dismissed on a duck as England were struggling on 29/4 at one stage. After the visitors got bowled out on 147, no further play was possible due to rain.

Australia's newly appointed Test captain, Pat Cummins, bagged five wickets and became the first captain to take a five-wicket haul in an Ashes Test since 1982.
