Taking to Twitter, the India coach further hailed New Zealand for their game in the WTC Final, saying a better team won in the conditions at The Ageas Bowl, Southampton.

Shastri tweeted: “Better team won in the conditions. Deserved winners after the longest wait for a World Title. Classic example of Big things don't come easy. Well played, New Zealand. Respect.”

On the other hand, India captain Virat Kohli has expressed his displeasure at some of the players for not showing enough intent to score runs which put pressure on the batting line-up in the WTC 2021 Final.

However, he didn’t name anyone and expressed his wish to play First-Class games before the five-match Test series in England starting on August 4.
