New Zealand completed their first innings after being bowled out for 249 runs on the fifth day of the ongoing WTC 2021 Final against India at the Ageas Bowl in Southampton. India had made 217 in their first innings and Kiwis earned a 32-run lead.
New Zealand had resumed from 101/2 and then Kane Williamson led the way with a 177-ball 49 runs as he anchored one end. Tim Southee (30) and Kyle Jamieson (21) allowed themselves some fun and hit some lusty blows. Mohammad Shami picked 4/76, while Ishant Sharma got 3/48, while R Ashwin picked two wickets.

It was a brilliant display of concentration and application from Kane Williamson around whom the Kiwi innings revolved and the Indian cricket fraternity on Twitter applauded his and his team’s efforts to take a 32-run lead.
The fraternity also talked about what India needs to do in their second innings and whether they would be able to put New Zealand under any pressure with a considerable amount of time left in the match.
