Kane Williamson made 49 runs as NZ made 249 runs, taking a lead of 32 | GettyBollywood actor and philanthropist Sonu Sood responded to a fan who requested him to send Kane Williamson back to the pavilion as the Kiwi captain held one end of the fort as New Zealand faced India in the WTC 2021 Final in Ageas Bowl, Southampton.

In response to India’s 217 in 1st innings, New Zealand resumed their innings from 101/2 on day 5 of the Test match, which has been marred by rain, losing two whole days play in the process.

Ross Taylor was the first to fall, getting out to Mohammad Shami for 11 runs and then Henry Nicholls (7) and BJ Watling followed soon, falling to Ishant Sharma and Mohammad Shami respectively. Shami then accounted for Colin de Grandhomme for 13 runs.

As wickets fell regularly, Kane Williamson continued to anchor one end of the New Zealand innings as he got support from Kyle Jamieson (21) and Tim Southee (30). As he didn’t seem to be troubled much by the Indian bowlers, an India cricket fan decided to call for help.

“Hello @SonuSood, please Williamson ko pavilion bhej do (Sonu Sood, please send Williamson back to pavilion),” the fan tweeted.

Sonu Sood, who is a Bollywood actor, has been in news since the COVID-19 lockdown in India in 2020, as he has been helping out people who have tweeted to him, asking for help in getting back to their homes. Especially migrant laborers got a lot of help from him, as he arranged for busses and food for them and sent them back from Mumbai.

Sood, who showed his humility even in this reply, which came after Kane Williamson fell for 49 to Ishant Sharma, said, “हमारी टीम में ऐसे दिग्गज हैं जो खुद ही भेज देंगे।  देखा, गया ना (Our team is full of stalwarts who can send him back on their own. See he did)

New Zealand folded for 249, taking a lead of 32 runs.
