WTC 2021 final between India and New Zealand has been a damp squib due to consistent rains | GettyThe International Cricket Council (ICC) shot themselves in the foot with their horribly timed tweet about asking the fans if they had bought the official WTC 2021 Final exclusive merchandise from their website, especially after the Test between India and New Zealand has lost 2 days to rain.

The WTC 2021 final played between the top 2 ranked Test teams- India and New Zealand- has been marred and interrupted time and again by rain and bad light, so much that only 140 odd overs have been bowled so far and the first and fourth day were lost to rain completely.

India was bowled out for 217 when New Zealand captain Kane Williamson won the toss and chose to bowl. While Ajinkya Rahane made 49 for India, Kyle Jamieson picked 5/31. New Zealand in reply has scored 101/2 with Devon Conway scoring a half-century.

ICC has been lambasted on social media by fans and former cricketers alike for organizing such an important cricket match in England when conditions are conducive to rain and bad light.

Therefore, when their official Twitter handle posted a tweet asking fans if they had bought the official WTC 2021 Final merchandise, they were trolled and blasted to a crisp by angered fans.
