Team India captain Virat Kohli has completed 10 years in Test cricket, having made his debut against West Indies on June 20, 2011. Kohli, who took over the captaincy in December 2014, has played 92 Test matches for India so far.

Kohli has been an inspiration for many and India's youngster Shubman Gill is among them. Gill said the India skipper has played a big role in taking Indian cricket in the right direction.

"He has been an idol to me and to all the youngsters; an inspiration to so many Indians. He has been someone who has revolutionized Indian cricket and made it into something else. When I bat or see him or talk to him, it’s obviously an inspiration for me and all the Indians out there," Gill said ahead of the start of Day 3 of the WTC final.

In 154 Test innings, Kohli has scored 7534 runs at an average of 52.31. He has scored 27 hundreds and 25 half-centuries in his Test career. 

Gill also spoke about India's performance in the ongoing ICC World Test Championship (WTC) final till the stumps of Day 2. India were 146/3 with Kohli (44*) and Ajinkya Rahane (29*) batting in the middle. 

"We are in a really solid position and really want to capitalize on the start. And we are looking to post a strong total, anything above 300 would be really good for us. I think I got off to a good start but I would have really liked if I’d scored a fifty or more than that. The conditions were against us when we were put into bat. So I’m really happy with the way we fought out," Gill said.

Unfortunately, India lost Kohli very early after the start of the third day's play. He scored 44 runs before Kyle Jamieson got him out of LBW. Rahane was later dismissed on 49 runs by Neil Wagner as India found themselves struggling on 182/6.
