WTC Final 2021: WATCH- R Ashwin and Indian contingent plays darts to pass time as day one is washed out

First day's play of the WTC final in Southampton was washed out.

R Ashwin won the game of darts | BCCIThe anticipation and excitement of the ICC World Test Championship (WTC 2021 Final) were at its peak as June 18 arrived and everyone waited to see the clash between India and New Zealand at the Ageas Bowl in Southampton.

However, rain gods had some other ideas as unrelenting rain prevented any play and even the toss wasn’t possible. This means that the reserve day will be used to make up for the lost time and 98 overs will be bowled on day 2 of the Test if rains subside and the outfield is dried in time.

Meanwhile, players from both sides had to find ways to spend time and while many chatted away while sipping coffee, a few Indian players decided to play a game of darts.

BCCI posted a video, as the first day of the final of the World Test Championship was washed out, revealing what the Indian team was doing during the rain. 

When rain didn’t stop play  #TeamIndia members enjoyed a game of dart on the sidelines during the rain break in Southampton  #WTC21 Final,” BCCI wrote in the caption.

As the rain stopped for a while in Southampton Virat Kohli’s Team India came out of the dressing room to take a stroll on the field. But no play was possible and fingers are crossed for the remaining days of the Test as well.
