WTC 2021 Final: India will be on the top of their game when they face New Zealand - Sourav Ganguly

WTC Final will kick start on 18th June at Ageas Bowl.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) President Sourav Ganguly feels Team India will be at the top of their game when they lock horns with New Zealand in the WTC 2021 Final. 

The final of ICC World Test Championship (WTC), which is set to be played between India and New Zealand at Ageas Bowl, Southampton is just a few hours away on June 18. 

Team India has already named their playing XI for the WTC final which saw the likes of both R Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja along with Jasprit Bumrah, Ishant Sharma, and Mohammad Shami featuring in the bowling line-up.

Over the last few years including the two-year cycle of WTC, Team India has played outstanding cricket and has been dominant, managing back-to-back wins in the Test series in Australia and have advanced to the final of the World Test Championship (WTC). 

Former Indian skipper and BCCI president Sourav Ganguly wished Team India luck for the WTC final, saying that the Virat Kohli-led side has worked hard for two years and he’s sure that they will be on the top of their game. 

"It's a big moment for all of us and I wish the team all the very best as they have worked very hard for two years to get to this position and I am sure they will be at top of the game," Sourav Ganguly told ANI. 

Ganguly remarked that Team India is very balanced as they bat deep and have some quality players in the side, who over the years have performed wonderfully. 

"Our team is a very balanced team. They bat till the end you have seen it during the Australian tour also they are a very solid team, hopefully, they will play to their potential. 

“The quality of players which are there is fantastic and they have done wonderfully well over the years to come up to this position," he said.

Sourav Ganguly further said that he’s sure Indian skipper Virat Kohli would be looking forward to making the WTC final a memorable one. 

"It's an opportunity for everyone. Virat is a great player and I am sure he will be looking forward to making this event a very memorable one," he concluded.

The winner of the WTC final will be awarded a Mace prize of $1.6 million while the runners-up would receive $800,000. The prize money will be shared between the two teams if the game ends in a draw.
