New Zealand batsman Ross Taylor feels that selectors will have plenty of backup options when they pick the XI for the ICC World Test Championship (WTC) final against India.

New Zealand is on the verge of winning their first Test series in England in 22 years as hosts England are 9 wickets down with their lead at just 37 runs.

Coming into the match, the Black Caps made as many as six changes and the players who were drafted into the playing XI rose to the occasion and performed well.

With New Zealand slated to play India in the final of ICC World Test Championship from June 18, Ross Taylor highlighted how the new players coming in have taken their chances well.

During a virtual press conference, star New Zealand batsman Ross Taylor said that it was a test for youngsters to perform with changes being made in the side against England in the second Test match.

"It's just a testament to them (youngsters), but also the group in itself, you know, a lot of it was... there were a couple of forced changes, obviously, because of injury and then a little bit of rotation as well leading into the final," Ross Taylor said during virtual press conference.

While lauding the team’s bench strength, Taylor feels selectors have enough options to choose from going into the WTC against India.

"But no, I think they played a crucial role in this. As you said, the three players (came in and did well) and the selectors have got, you know, some good back-ups for whatever side they decide to go in with for the world cup final (WTC),” he said.

The WTC final, between New Zealand and India, will be played at the Ageas Bowl in Southampton from June 18.
