Rishabh Pant hit 13 fours and 2 sixes in his knock of 101 | GettyIndia’s wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant set the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on fire, as he slammed a brilliant counter-attacking century on day 2 of the ongoing fourth Test match.

He smashed the England bowlers to all parts of the ground. He started off cautiously while Rohit Sharma and he added 41 runs for the 5th wicket. But when Rohit Sharma got out for 49, Pant stepped on the accelerator and went after the bowling with calculated risks.

His risks included a gobsmacking reverse sweep boundary to James Anderson, as he scored his half-century in 82 balls. But after that, he threw caution to the wind and started gathering runs off all bowlers and ended up reaching his century, by smacking a huge six off England captain Joe Root, despite being on 94.

This was his third century in Tests, second against England and first at home. Though he fell for 101 soon after, he helped India finish the second day on 294/7 with a lead of 89 runs.
