AUS v IND 2020-21: David Warner doubtful of being "fully fit" for Sydney Test

David Warner has begun his net sessions along with the Australian team after the second Test but is yet to be fully fit for the third Test in Sydney starting on Thursday, January 7. While he batted well in the nets, he had trouble stretching his legs.

The man himself doesn't have the exact idea of where his fitness level is at with under a week to go for the match but he knows for a fact that it is highly doubtful that he'll be 100% fit for the Sydney Test.

AUS v IND 2020-21: ‘Everyone is allowed to have a bit of lack of form’, Warner defends Smith’s failures

Warner told the media in a virtual press conference, "We've got a training session today and tomorrow so I can't give you any more indication of where I'm at. Am I going to be 100 percent? Highly doubtful."

If the left-handed opener gets the nod to play at the SCG, he is likely to replace the right-handed opener Joe Burns, who has been left out of the squad for the final two Tests. There will be two contenders to find the second opening slot, current opener Matthew Wade and fit-again Will Pucovski. Warner believes that Wade will prove to be an aggressive opener to partner him and the duo can shoot up the run-rate if they see an opportunity.

"If you have me and Wadey out there and we get a little bit of a sniff, the run-rate could be could be quite high, but at the end of the day it's what the selectors go with," he said.
