Pakistan opener Shan Masood scored a brilliant 156 on Day 2 of the Old Trafford Test, his fourth hundred in Test cricket and third consecutive hundred in the longest format. His knock helped Pakistan to finish with a compeittive 326 in their first innings.

Masood became only the second opener after Mudassar Nazar to score three consecutive Test hundreds for Pakistan, and is only the sixth Asian opener to register three figures in England since 2010. Before Masood, Saeed Anwar was the last Pakistani opener to score a Test hundred in England in 1996.

The 30-year-old opener exhibited great patience and made good use of the couple of reprieves given to him by England wicket-keeper Jos Buttler off the bowling of off-spinner Dom Bess on the opening day of the first Test.

Masood received good support from Babar Azam (69) and Shadab Khan (45) as Pakistan's innings folded for 326 with Stuart Broad and Jofra Archer taking three wickets each.

Cricket fraternity heaped rich praise on Shan Masood's innings and hailed his display of grit and determination against a fine England bowling attack.
