SA v ENG 2020: Ashley Giles calls for improved security at the Wanderers after England players abused

The managing director of England cricket, Ashley Giles has requested for improved security and stewarding for the remainder of the Test match at Wanderers.

Ashley Giles was not happy with the incident that happened with Ben Stokes and he has claimed that the England players were subjected to a lot of abuse during and after play. He wants the security to be better for the remaining days of the Test match.

We have requested the venue to ensure that security and stewarding are enhanced for the remainder of the match so that players and staff members can go about their duties without provocation,” Giles said.

The former cricketer was disappointed with the security as the crowds at the Wanderers stadium in Johannesburg is known for its rowdy crowd and that measures should have taken in advance for such misdoings.

He also commented on the situation Ben Stokes has found himself in. Stokes reacted to abuse from the crowd after he got out and was near the pavilion. He hurled back at the crowd with abuse too. Later, he apologized for it, especially to the younger fans and called the behavior‘ unprofessional’.

England is 192/4 at the end of the first day’s play at the Wanderers.
