SA v ENG 2020: Mark Boucher takes full responsibility for team's poor performance at Port Elizabeth

England just need 4 more wickets to go 2-1 up in the four match Test series.

England was really on top of their game in the third Test at Port Elizabeth against the Proteas as they find themselves on the verge of consecutive Test win against the home side. On Day 4, the English bowlers ran through South Africa’s batting as the home team lost 10 wickets.

While talking about their performance, Mark Boucher said, “It was a very disappointing batting performance. I’ve been in teams where we’ve been pretty low as well and we are still in the series. We are in a very bad situation in this game but not out of the series yet.

Boucher then went on to take the responsibility of this performance as he said, “Ultimately I have to take responsibility for the performance and I now have to mentally and physically upskill these guys in a short space of time to make them better players. It’s easy to point fingers but for me, there are no excuses. I need to find a way to get it right.

After enforcing the follow on, England has reduced Faf du Plessis and Co. to 102/6 at stumps on Day 4. The former wicketkeeper batsman then talked about how they wanted to go about in this match as he said, “The guys wanted to dominate but the conditions have been tough, the ball’s turning a lot more. The risk is quite big to use your feet and go over the top and dominate.

But since the match didn’t go as they had hoped and are on the verge of defeat, the players are very disappointed said, Boucher.

As you’ll probably realize, the guys are pretty disappointed at the moment but going forward I need to find a way to get them ready for tomorrow and the last test match to come,” he said.
