AUS v NZ 2019-20: Marnus Labsuchagne's funny solo appeal leaves Steve Smith laughing

Labuschagne was the only one who thought the batsman had nicked the ball to the wicket-keeper.

Marnus Labuschagne | GETTY

A comical incident happened during New Zealand's innings on the second day of the day-night Test against Australia. Aussie pacers were making it tough for the visitors under the lights. They produced wickets in the last session of the second day to dominate the Test match. Yes, edges were flying behind the wickets but Marnus Labuschagne got one horribly wrong and it was hilarious.

When Mitchell Starc bowled one which beat Henry Nicholls' outside edge, Labuschagne was confident they got their man. It was the 28th over of New Zealand's innings and they were already three down.

But funnily, except Labuschagne no one else thought there was a nick and hence, they didn't appeal. Fielding at short leg, the poor guy appealed his heart out but all alone. It looked funny and from commentators to his teammates, none could stop laughing.

“I 100% heard the faintest nick”, he said after his appeal was turned down. Even snicko showed no spikes as the ball went past batsman's bat. Standing in the slip cordon, Steve Smith could not stop laughing at the 25-year-old’s appeal.
