AUS v NZ 2019-20: Allan Border speaks on New Zealand's chances in the upcoming Test series

Australian cricket legend Allan Border, on Saturday, December 7, warned the hosts to not take New Zealand lightly in the upcoming three-match Test series despite their poor record in Australia.

History suggests that New Zealand may struggle in the upcoming three-Test series in Australia, but Border believes that the Kiwis have their best chance this time to rewrite history against Tim Paine and his team when they lock horns next week.

The Black Caps have a poor Test history in Australia, as they had only success in the longest format way back in 1985, while they have won just three of the 31 Tests that they’ve played in Australia.

Border told AAP, “They fly under the radar all the time, they’re very good at claiming the underdog tag, but they’re not going to get away with it this time because they’re ranked No.2 in the world.”

He continued, “They were a good team (in ‘85) and not dissimilar to this team in that they’ve got some real world-class players but they always undervalue and underrate themselves. But they can’t just rock up and say ‘Oh, we’re terrible underdogs, look at this great Australian side’ anymore.”

Border signed off by saying, “They used to say that and get away with it, but now we’re behind them. Yes, we’re playing at home but ... they’ve just taken care of business (against England) and they’re a bloody good, scrapping cricket team.”
